We think in pictures and this workshop uses a visual metaphor to help children, parents and teachers view fear and anxiety differently. Created by TS Redmond, we take a safe (and fun) look at something that’s impacting a growing number of children in our schools.

Bullying is never acceptable. While extensive focus has been given to those being subjected to bullying, this workshop takes a different approach. Our belief is that when someone can be coached through behavioural change, the issue of bullying can be eliminated.  Using age-appropriate examples, this workshop looks at triggers and consequences that lead to bullying behaviour, as well as discussing the support that’s available before, during and after the event.

With social media having such a powerful influence in the lives of children today, they can sometimes feel  they don’t have anyone to talk with ‘who truly understands.’ This program promotes the importance of having two friends at school who will listen when a student needs to be heard.  Having two friends who will ask questions and listen, rather than agreeing, disagreeing or offering an opinion, can have a positive mental, physical and emotional impact. When a student is heard – ‘all’s cool at school.’

Developed by TS Redmond, this program joyfully looks at the book ‘The Butterflies Who Were Afraid.’  Because most adults have never been shown how to manage their fear and anxiety, they are able to equip their children with a ‘method’ to manage theirs.  This program (designed for both children and adults) discusses why ‘our butterflies sometimes feel funny’ in our tummy and what we can do when they’re unhappy or afraid.  The message in this workshop can be applied to any situation a child may be faced with.

Based on the book First Build The Team, this program brings different people and groups together. Using a powerful metaphor, we discuss the fact that each person has a different view; a different set of values and beliefs; a different knowledge bank and a different set of experiences from everyone else around them.  This ‘truth’ can be the very thing that brings diverse groups together.  Our belief is that diversity remains one of the most ‘unexplored areas’ for most organisations – including schools.

When parents have the opportunity to receive genuine, heart-felt support while being given a process that can help them live their lives ‘happier, healthier and with less stress,’ the impact can have a positive effect on their children.  This program draws out the strengths and positive qualities of parents in an inspiring way.  It highlights the truth that life does have its challenges but parents don’t have to deal with those challenges alone. This program gives parents an important ‘boost’ which they can share with their children through actions and words after the event.

Health is defined as being ‘free from injury and illness’ and our belief is that mental health is important for children – but it’s not enough.  We don’t go to the gym to become ‘free from injury and illness’ – we go to the gym to become fit and strong.  This workshop uses age-appropriate methods to help children develop their mental fitness and strength.

With many physical and emotional changes taking place in the life of a teenager, it can be difficult for them to find certainty or consistency in their life.  Without having these qualities, their minds can explore unhealthy and unhelpful situations as they look for help.  This workshop focuses on helping teenagers discover they’re more resourceful than they realise (and why they’re more resourceful than parents can perceive). In an enjoyable way, teenagers discover they can tap into the strength they already possess, and manage the many changes they have to deal with in a healthy and helpful way.

Using an oversized dice (or should that be die given we only use one) we look at the issue of conflict.  This is one of the most effective and well received concepts we use.  In a joyful way, children discover that what they can see, hear and experience is unique to them.  Even best friends won’t see, hear or experience events in ‘exactly the same’ way as us.  As kids realise they are unique, they give permission for other people (including parents and teachers) to also have unique views.  We discuss how different views may need to be followed at times (such as obeying instructions at school); we look at how to communicate with someone else who has a different view and we identify the three words that turn conflict into a ‘stress-free’ conversation anyone can have.

Some Principals are happy.  Some are successful. There are Principals who have great relationships with their family; friends; teaching staff and parents.  There are Principals who love what they do.  But there are many more Principals who would value having someone to talk to about creating change in their life. Improving results in different areas of their personal or professional lives such as health, relationships, conflict or wealth, are areas that Principals can focus on when they talk with The Principal’s Coach™.  A simple question; a reflective statement or something as powerful as creative tension in a coaching conversation, can be the very thing that empowers a Principal to make the changes they want to make.

ADULTS ONLY!

Yes, in this session, the coach shares personal stories which highlight the pain of living with anxiety. The sense of powerlessness; feeling completely alone; lost and many other issues that arise from anxiety are discussed with parents and teachers.  Great work is underway in the area of mental health in our community, however our view is that much more can be done to ‘normalise the conversation.’ We help our community discuss mental health issues in the same way that it’s now acceptable to talk about personal health – gyms; personal trainers; boot camps; clothing; food; discipline etc. This workshop which makes use of a Q & A format, looks at alternative ways to manage anxiety and fear at home and at school.

Only a single parent can fully comprehend the internal dialogue that takes place when children live with just one parent – especially if they have previously lived with both.  No matter how good it may look on the outside, many single parents battle a common set of symptoms. These range from experiencing a sense of overwhelm; feeling guilty for ‘what they’ve done to the kids’; feelings of anger and loneliness and sometimes feeling ill-equipped to deal with all the issues they have to face as a single parent.  These symptoms form what is referred to as Single Parent Syndrome.  The focus of this workshop is to help parents understand how to turn their unhealthy or unhelpful reactions into positive and powerful responses. This will give their children the best possible opportunity to thrive, in a situation that no one planned for.
